HOW TO OBTAIN YOUR FREE MICROSOFT SOFTWARE
The Business Division of the Portsmouth Campus of Tidewater Community College subscribes to the Microsoft Developers Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) managed by “DreamSpark”. As a member of this alliance, the Division can offer its students access to certain Microsoft products that are being utilized in the classroom.
At the end of the fourth week of each semester, students enrolled in ITD, ITE, ITN, and ITP classes that are more than 2 credits are eligible to check out or purchase Microsoft products.
The Microsoft Office Suite is NOT included in the available software. If you have the Home Version of Microsoft Office, you can obtain Microsoft Office Access.
NOTE: ITE 115 classes currently use Office 2010.
The password will be sent in an email to your VCCS email mailbox. You can access your mailbox through TCC’s home page: http://www.tcc.edu/. Click on the myTCC button, enter your username and password, and then click on Gmail.
Locate the email from Tidewater Community College - pc – DreamSpark Premium with a subject line of An account has been created for you. Your login name and password will be provided for the MSDNAA site. Your username will be the same as your VCCS email account (ex: email@example.com).
If you were previously enrolled in an IT class at the Portsmouth Campus, you will not receive a new email. When your account is reactivated, you will use the same password as last semester.
If you do not get an email during the 4th week of the semester or if you forget your password, you can go to the MSDNAA site at: http://msdn02.e-academy.com/tcc_pc/. Click on the Forget your password? link. Enter your TCC email address and then Submit. An email will be sent to you with instructions on resetting your password.
Once you receive your welcome email from Tidewater Community College - pc – DreamSpark Premium, you can login and download or purchase software at http://msdn02.e-academy.com/tcc_pc.
Your login name is your email account that includes @email.vcccs.edu. Your password is the one created during the registration process. Once in the site, you can change your password by clicking on Your Account at the top of the screen, and then the Change Password link.
To obtain software, select a category of the software you are want or “All”. Click the icon of the software you want and follow the instructions as they appear on screen.
Most products require a Product Key or Serial Number to install. You will see the Product Key at the end of the check-out procedure. To review the Product key later, click “Your Account” at the top of the screen, and the “View Details”.
The software can be used on your personal computer for the purposes of studying and research only. You cannot give or sell the software to anyone else. It cannot be used on a business computer. You will have to accept the End User License Agreement (EULA) , read the agreement.
For problems accessing your MSDNAA account, contact Bob Mills using your TCC e-mail account at firstname.lastname@example.org and include a brief description of what the problem is.
For problems with downloading or installation of the software, click Help in the DreamSpark website. It provides detailed instructions on downloading, installation, and converting iso files.
