Civil Engineering Technology (CET) students learn the technical skills needed to help civil engineers design and build large projects, such as roadways, bridges, and buildings. Students learn how to analyze construction sites, use and maintain equipment, draft plans, and write reports.
The CET program at TCC emphasize basic mathematics, science and communication skills. Students concentrate on fundamentals of engineering technology, surveying, construction materials and testing, computer-aided drafting (CAD); as well as courses in environmental technology, soils and fluid mechanics.
Students completing the associate degree in CET can enter the workforce or continue towards a bachelors degree at ODU, Norfolk State, or at any other university with an engineering technology program. TCC also offers career studies certificates in Inspections/Lab Technology, Land Surveying, and we are currently developing a career studies certificate in Construction Management.
