Welcome to the Tidewater Community College Beazley School of Nursing web site.  We hope that you will find the information you need to help you get started in the nursing field.  The nursing program at TCC has a long history of promoting excellence in the nursing community.  The program began in 1970 and graduated its first registered nurse class in 1972.  Graduates from the program and serve throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States.  The Nursing Program is physically located on the Fred W. Beazley Portsmouth campus.   However, students may take general education courses at any of the four TCC campuses.  Additionally, the Nursing Program is offered on the Eastern Shore at Eastern Shore Community College.

	Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing (RN) This track is available to students who wish to pursue careers as Registered Nurses (RN's).  The program requires five full-time semesters of study following admission to the program.
	Articulation Track (LPN to RN) This track is available to LPN's who have graduated from certain regional programs within the last five years and who have also met the minimum requirements for admission.  It is designed to assist these LPN's with work experience to smoothly and expeditiously move into the Associate Degree Nursing Program.
	Advanced Placement Track (LPN to RN) This option is offered to LPN's who have graduated from accredited nursing programs recognized by the Virginia Board of Nursing who have met the minimum requirements for admission to the nursing program, but who do not meet the articulation guidelines.  Only LPN's with work experience may apply for advanced standing.
