Health Professions: Respiratory Therapy Program
Work as part of the critical care team in treating
individuals with such lung disorders as asthma, emphysema, pneumonia, and bronchitis, using sophisticated medical
equipment that will mechanically breathe for the patient.
The following steps must be completed to be eligible
for Fall admission:
- Apply to Tidewater Community College.
Applications are available in the Health Professions Program Administrative Assistant's office, MN-103, Regional Health Professions Center, Virginia Beach campus; you may also appy to TCC online.
- Complete a Health Professions Application indicating Respiratory Therapy as your program choice. Application deadline is March 15. Please include an unoffical copy of your transcript if you have attended any other college besides TCC.

status. Please take the time to verify receipt of your application
and transcripts. Only students with completed applications
can be considered for the program.

- To receive transfer credit from previous colleges
attended, contact the Registrar at each college attended
and have official transcripts sent directly to the Central

Previous Educational Experiences SS-033
must be received by the Central Records Office
in order to evaluate your transcripts and assign transfer credit.
Verify receipt of all transcripts and forms by contacting the Central
- Computer competency test
Prior to graduation from the program, students must demonstrate
computer competency in word processing, spreadsheet, database,
and internet/e-mail. You can either take ITE 115 (Introduction
to Microcomputer Software), or call the Counseling Center at (757)
822-7211 to schedule to take a computer competency test. It is
best to do this early in the program.
