   StuDy Abroad Funding for Students

NOT ELigible for financial aid

For many people, the costs of study abroad are a major factor in deterring them from participation in a program. Although program costs can be intimidating, there are many ways to bring the funds together to cover the amount needed. Having a better understanding of how financial aid and payments work makes it easier to see that study abroad can be a real possibility.

Completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will help you determine if you are eligible for financial aid. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. When you complete the FAFSA, your Student Aid Report is sent to TCC, where it is determined what financial aid you are eligible for. Questions about your eligibility for TCC financial aid should be directed to the Financial Aid Office on your campus. If you are found to be not eligible for TCC financial aid, then you still have some options for helping fund your experience.

Students who are not eligible for TCC financial aid may consider applying for a TCC study abroad scholarship, or outside scholarships and loans. Please note that the TCC study abroad scholarship is given as a refund after the successful completion of the program, so you must be able to pay all costs of the program up front. For outside scholarships and loans, please be careful to review eligibility criteria carefully and do your research. For more information on these opportunities, please see the funding links on the previous scholarship page.
