Program Advisory Committees

What is a program advisory committee?

A program advisory committee is a group of employers and employees from outside the field of education who advise educators on the design, development, implementation, evaluation, maintenance, and revision of collegiate programs.

The purpose of a program advisory committee is to provide assurance, through technical assistance and resources, that

  1. a professional/technical program curriculum meets the needs of business, industry, labor, the professions, technical trades, and/or the community it is designed to serve, and
  2. the professional/technical program graduates are capable of performing entry-level skills in the career pathway in which they are trained.

Faculty and staff at Tidewater Community College know from experience that advisory committees are important factors in the success of their programs.
