On Friday, September 13, 2013, we all have the opportunity to give, advocate and volunteer. Please consider joining hundreds of Hampton Roads volunteers for the 22nd Annual United Way of South Hampton Roads Day of Caring. This is an opportunity to work with others in the community on one common goal, helping those in need. The United Way of South Hampton Roads is offering us this unique and wonderful opportunity.
Volunteers are needed to assist with a wide variety of projects ranging from painting and yard work to filing and office organization. Whatever the assignment, you can be assured that your help is greatly needed and deeply appreciated. The United Way has changed the process this year and specific assignments will be made August 10. In the past, we were permitted to submit a total number of volunteers from TCC and then were able to add or subtract names from the list, however, this year we are not able to do so. Individual names must be submitted and no additions will be permitted. For that reason, I ask that those who register realize that their name is linked to a specific project and if cancelled, this will leave the site shorthanded. I need your commitment by August 5, so I can let the United Way know just how much Tidewater Community College is willing to help the community.
All names must be submitted to me no later than Monday, August 5, 2013.
Volunteer time at the sites will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at approximately 4:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided at the individual sites. Last year 50 TCC volunteers participated in this event. I urge the TCC “family” (faculty, staff, administrators and students) to consider helping our community by volunteering for this worthwhile activity.
