The TCC CERT program started with the completion of the first C-CERT class in December 2012. There are many specifics to the program that will be developed overtime. The then Provost Dr. Linda Rice agreed to pilot the CERT program on the Chesapeake Campus.
TCC is not authorizing self activation of CERT Teams on any campus at this time.
TCC Faculty, staff and students who are CERT trained will be activated to respond to a Campus emergency through the Campus Command structure lead by the Provost.
Campus Provosts are authorized to activate CERT trained individuals on their campus as needed, provided the teams are organized and operate under the supervision of the Provost.
TCC Faculty, staff and students who have completed CERT Training are encouraged to make the Provost aware of their training and willingness to participate in on Campus emergencies when requested.
All CERT trained individuals are encouraged to participate in their local jurisdictional CERT program; however, no on campus self-activation is authorized, regardless of the local CERT affiliation.
TCC and the local jurisdictions will coordinate any CERT Team activities when mutually beneficial to the jurisdiction and TCC faculty, staff and students.
