TCC HOSTS COLLEGE-WIDE BLOOD DRIVE IN REMEMBRANCE OF 9/11
Staff, faculty and students encouraged to participate at one of four campus locations
Aug. 19, 2013
A blood drive on all four Tidewater Community College campuses will be held Sept. 11 in recognition of the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to roll up their sleeves. “We welcome the college family to participate. It is our privilege to remember 9/11 by doing our part to help others,” said Susan James, special assistant to the president and chief of staff.
Facilitated by the American Red Cross, the drive will boost local supplies, ensuring blood is available for those who need it in Hampton Roads. The local Red Cross says A-negative, B-negative and O blood types and platelets are most needed. Because only 38 percent of the population is eligible to give blood, first-time donors are particularly invited. Eligibility requirements and tips for those who have never given blood are on the Red Cross website.
The drive is organized by the TCC Campus Blood Drive committees and student activities coordinators. To schedule an appointment, visit the blood drive registration site and use the sponsor codes below. Walk-ins are welcome.
