FACULTY, STAFF ASKED TO WEIGH IN ON COMMUNITY COLLEGE POLICY ON FRIDAY
Sept. 17, 2013 — On behalf of President Edna V. Baehre-Kolovani, TCC faculty and staff are invited to participate in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) Strategic Planning Listening Tour on Friday at 10:30 a.m. on the second floor of the Joint-Use Library on the Virginia Beach Campus. The listening tour is an opportunity to weigh in on community college policy across the state.
VCCS Chancellor Glenn DuBois, together with the presidents of the 23 VCCS colleges, is conducting listening tour sessions with business, community, K-12 education and elected leaders. Community college students will also participate in upcoming sessions.
Register for free to attend.
The upcoming strategic plan will begin in 2016 and carry through the beginning of the next decade. The plan will focus on meeting the external needs of the people, employers and communities. Among the top priorities of the VCCS: ensuring a college graduate is living in every Virginia home by the year 2025, as two out of every three jobs in the state will require more than a high school education before this decade ends.
A taskforce charged with drafting a plan will begin its work in 2014. Baehre-Kolovani will serve as co-chair of the panel with Blue Ridge Community College President John Downey. Virginia community college leaders from across the state, who will be named later this year, will make up the rest of the panel.
Those with questions or comments can email DuBois at email@example.com.
