With over 21 years of professional library management experience, Mary Mayer-Hennelly served as assistant director of the Norfolk Public Library system prior to joining TCC. She has also been a librarian for Portsmouth and Virginia Beach public libraries A member of the Virginia Library Association (VLA), she has chaired its conference committee, Junior Member’s Roundtable and public relations committee when she wrote the VLA’s winning entry for the national Grolier Grant. She has served two terms as an elected member of American Library Association’s national council and as a trustee for the Norfolk Law Library. A member of the American Society for Public Administration, Hampton Roads chapter, she has served as its president and won the organization’s national award for continuing education. Mayer-Hennelly is vice president of the Friends of the Jean Outland Chrysler Library and holds an M.S.L.S. (library science) from McGill University, an M.P.A. (public administration) from Old Dominion University and a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Boston. |
