TCC STAFF MEMBERS HONORED WITH SERVICE AWARDS

HAMPTON
ROADS, Va. – (Oct. 5, 2005) – Two Virginia Community
Colleges Association Showcase Awards for 2005 went to Tidewater
Community College employees for their service and significant
contributions to the college and VCCA. Christie Bradley and Monica
Terry were honored at the Sept. 30 statewide awards ceremony held
in Roanoke.
Library specialist Christie Bradley of the Chesapeake Campus,
a TCC employee since 1997, came to TCC as a student in 1976 and
later earned her associate degree from the college. She has served
on several volunteer committees, including the Virginia Consortium
Interlibrary Loan Subcommittee, TCC Governance Committee for Student
Success, and TCC Classified Association for the college’s
support staff. She serves as secretary to the Chesapeake Campus
Classified Assembly and co-chair of VCCA’s Learning Resources
Commission.
A Chesapeake resident, Bradley has two sons, James and Joseph,
and is a member of Great Bridge Presbyterian Church.
Administrative assistant Monica Terry of the Portsmouth Campus,
a TCC employee for 16 years, earned her associate degree from
the college in 1989 and was quickly hired as a junior secretary
in the Office of the President. She has worked for the provost
of the Portsmouth Campus since 1991. Terry has served on numerous
volunteer committees and is a member of the President’s
Advisory and Planning Council, Black History Month Committee,
Student Activities Planning Committee, Campus Social Activities
Ad-Hoc Committee, and the college-wide Classified Association
for TCC’s support staff, for which she serves as campus
chair. TCC students honored her last year with the 2004 Student’s
Choice Award.
Terry and her husband, Ray, have three children and three grandchildren.
A Portsmouth resident, she attends Grover Baptist Church.

Tidewater Community College
