HAMPTON ROADS, Va. – (Aug. 17, 2007) On Aug. 16 Tidewater Community College’s partnership with Barnes & Noble College Booksellers Inc. culminated with the opening of a two-story 28,000-square-foot “academic superstore” at MacArthur Center in downtown Norfolk.

The TCC Bookstore features products to serve the needs of TCC students and faculty by providing textbooks, reference materials, TCC emblematic gifts and clothing products. The bookstore will also feel very much like a traditional Barnes & Noble store with newspapers, general interest books/periodicals, titles of local interest to the public, a children’s department and a full-service Starbuck’s Café. Operating hours are Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The website carries a full range of textbook, school supplies, apparel and gift items. In addition, students can find out online which books the bookstore will buy back each semester. The new website also gives faculty the freedom to place textbook requests for each upcoming semester online, 24/7.

Barnes & Noble, serving all four TCC campuses and the community, will run the main TCC Bookstore at MacArthur Center and a permanent satellite bookstore at the college’s Virginia Beach Campus in the Princess Anne Commons section of the city. During peak book-selling periods in the academic year, temporary on-campus distribution centers will operate on the Chesapeake and Portsmouth campuses, in addition to year-round kiosks with academic supplies and incidentals.

Barnes & Noble College Booksellers Inc. is a privately held, sister company to Barnes & Noble Inc., the nation’s largest bookseller. Barnes & Noble College Booksellers manages bookstores at more than 600 colleges and universities across North America.
