Wear your TCC gear: T-shirts, buttons, hats, bags, etc on Fridays to be entered into a drawing. Students will need to come to the Student Center Activities Office (Room 220E) to be placed in the drawing that will be conducted at the end of each month. Students not on campus can post a selfie on the TCC Portsmouth social media sites to be entered into the drawing.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

This event is open to the public.

VITA is an IRS-sponsored program that provides free tax assistance to low-to-moderate income individuals (mid-70,000s or lower) who require help in preparing their tax returns or cannot afford the services of a paid professional. Free e-file.

TCC students enrolled in the Federal Income Tax course will be participating in the VITA program. Each student volunteer must pass an IRS test to become certified.

Bring a valid picture ID, SSN, 2015 tax return, and 2016 tax documents.

No appointments needed; first come, first serve basis only.

A partial listing of items outside the scope of VITA (and therefore not eligible for free tax assistance) includes non-cash donations greater than $500, depreciation calculations, income from rental property, royalties, partnerships, estates, trusts, farm income, household employers, kiddie tax, foreign tax credit using Form 1116.
