Evaluate Alternatives

Besides choosing a career area that is a good match for your interest and abilities, you will want to determine that the specific occupation provides those things that you feel are important to have in your vocational life. For example:

  • What is the minimum acceptable salary?
  • Are you comfortable with the work environment for this type of career?
  • What are the education and training requirements? And are you willing to commit to these?
  • Does this career field require travel? And is that satisfactory?

These are the types of issues and concerns that need to be considered before making a final decision. You should make an appointment with a career counselor at your campus to discuss these and other issues.
