| TCC's Writing Center consultants
are members of the English faculty and other experts at the
Virginia Beach Campus of Tidewater Community College. They
help students generate ideas, find a focus, organize information,
develop support and evidence, and deal with other composition
concerns during the planning and drafting stages of papers.
In addition, Writing Center consultants review rough drafts
of papers. Consultants do not proofread, edit, or revise
student papers but do advise students about ways to improve
specific assignments. Consultants also help students learn
the skills necessary for improving writing in general. Online
consultations: Writing Center staff will offer assistance
with short questions about writing in an electronic environment;
however, students at TCC's Virginia Beach Campus have priority
in using this service.
To make the best
use of your time, first seek assistance by reviewing the relevant
self-help handouts available on line and in print at the Writing
Center. Try to bring a portion of your draft along with specific
questions about fulfillment of requirements, organization,
development, documentation, or mechanics. Please remember
that this is not a proofreading service, so staff will not
correct or revise writing but will answer questions, make
suggestions for improvement, or recommend useful resources.
