EXHIBITIONS & ARTS PROGRAMMING

2013–2014 Calendar of Events

Dianne Hottenstein: Epistles | 140 Characters

Lana Stephens | Impossible Doorways
May 4 – June 20, 2013
Opening Reception: Friday, May 3, 7 p.m.

Working in charcoal and mixed media, Lana Stephens (Virginia Beach, VA) focuses on the obscurity that exists between fantasy and reality. Forgotten landscapes, cloud formations and haunting figures question beauty, memory and the metaphysical. In her masters thesis program, Dianne Hottenstein (Chesapeake, VA) explores the impersonal ways in which we currently communicate and what we’ve lost during the process. The use of symbolism in her sculptural work sadly reminds us of the dehumanizing factors associated with technology. A gallery talk will precede the Opening at 6:30 p.m.
