Alexandra "Alex" Hilborn is currently majoring in Women’s Studies with a minor in Sociology. She plans to graduate in Fall 2012 from Old Dominion University.
Her professional interests are women’s issues, and working with women to come together to affect social change on any issue that detriments women’s basic or essential rights.
When Alex is not at The Women’s Center, she likes to go out for dinner or read, and she also has a habit of watching crime shows such as Law and Order.
The Women’s Center to me means promoting greater equality for women and having women-based activities and events that can further unite the female community at TCC and the Hampton Roads.
The word “equality” to me spurs a feeling of positive unification. Equity is also a feeling of fairness, which means to me that there has to be an overarching goal for women that allows for greater success for empowerment.
