Veterans Affairs Application Process
Obtain an Application
for Admission (instructions) from the TCC location nearest you and submit
it to the Enrollment Services Office at the campus you plan to attend. This
campus will be regarded as your home campus. Be sure to determine whether or
not you will pay in-state or out-of-state tuition.
Contact your home campus to determine
the need for Math and English Placement tests, and for assistance if necessary
in choosing a program of study. All students receiving Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits
must be enrolled in a State Approving Agency approved TCC curriculum leading
to a Certificate or Associates Degree.
Veterans may apply for initial education
benefits by completing the VA Form 22-1990 (Application for VA Benefits). Applications are available in the campus Office
of Veterans Affairs, or you may apply directly to the VA by completing the online application for benefits (VONAPP) at the Department of Veterans Affairs website: http://vabenefits.vba.va.gov/vonapp/main.asp . A copy of all discharge papers (DD Form 214 - member
copy 4) must accompany the application.
The MGIB extended benefits to service members who formerly were entitled to the (Chapter 34) Vietnam-Era GI Bill education benefits. Members of the armed services who were eligible for the conversion benefits, do not pay into the program. Participants have 36 months of entitlements or the amount of entitlements they have remaining from Chapter 34, whichever is less. Benefits must be used within 10 years from the date the individual was released from active duty. Vietnam era claimants are eligible for increased benefit rates for the dependents. If prior marriages or divorces
have occurred for the veteran or spouse, documentation such as a final decree
of divorce will be required.
