Hampton Roads Maritime Training Program
This Coast Guard-approved training course satisfies the
examination portion of the Coast Guard requirements
for an OUPV License. OUPV is commonly called a six-pack
or charter captain’s license and is required by those
operating uninspected vessels for hire that carry no more
than six passengers. Upon completion a HRMTP at TCC
certificate will be issued to present to the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard has other requirements, such as a
physical exam, a minimum of 360 days on the water that
students will have to submit prior to receiving a licen

Our day classes run eight hours a day beginning at 8 a.m. Monday through Friday and half a day Saturday. OUPV covers nine days, UpGrade three days and Not More Than 100 Gross Tons covers 11 days.
Night classes are two nights per week; Tuesday and Thursday from six to nine p.m.
OUPV cost $800; UpGrade cost $400; Master Not More Than 100 Tons cost $1200.
This course meets Coast Guard requirements to add
a towing endorsement to your license. It is a one-day
(six hour) course that is offered periodically throughout
100 Ton Master
This course meets the U.S. Coast Guard requirements to
issue a 100 Gross Ton Master’s License. This license is
required by those operating inspected vessels of 100 GT
or less. Upon completion of the course a HRMTP at TCC
certificate will be issued to present to the Coast Guard
along with other requirements to obtain a 25, 50, or
100 ton license.
OUPV Upgrade to 100 Ton Master
This course is available for those who already have their
OUPV license and wish to upgrade to 100 GT Master’s
license. The course follows each OUPV course and follows
the same requirements as the original 100 GT license.
