Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Certification
About the Class
Medical Billing and Coding is currently one of the fastest-growing professions in allied health. There is a demand in the healthcare industry for individuals with knowledge of office operations, including diagnostic and procedural coding and insurance forms processing.
This Medical Billing and Coding program prepares the student to enter this in-demand field as a medical billing specialist, medical coder, or medical office manager. The student will learn how to code disorders, services, and procedures for all systems of the body.
Upon successful completion of this 624 clock hour course, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion from Tidewater Community College for 62.4 CEUs. The student will also register, prepare for, and take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) Certification examination.
The course is scheduled for the Summer (2013) and Fall (2013) semesters from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM at the Tidewater Community College Regional Health Professions Building Center in Virginia Beach (Room MN122) at the corner of Rosemont Road and Faculty Boulevard.
Two- Semester Course:
Semester I (Fall 2013) October 1,2013 to December 6, 2013
Tuesday, Wednseday, Thursday 5:30pm - 9:00pm
Semester II (Spring 2014) January 13, 2014 to May 9, 2014
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm
- High school diploma or GED
- Workkeys ® Assessments: Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Infomation
- PC Requirements: Internet connection, email capability, Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Reader, and computer speakers
