Title IX

Sexual Harassment and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

Title IX prohibits sex discrimination, which includes sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. Sexual harassment is addressed in TCC’s Sexual Harassment Policy 1108.

Tidewater Community College shall not tolerate sexual misconduct by any employee, student, group of employees, or group of students. The college considers sexual assault and sexual harassment to be forms of misconduct that undermine the integrity of the teaching, learning, and workplace relationships.

No student or employee should be subjected to unsolicited and unwelcome sexual overtures or conduct, of either a verbal or physical nature. All reported instances of sexual harassment shall be investigated and TCC will provide a prompt, fair, and impartial investigation and resolution. Please see the college’s Sexual Harassment Policy for more detailed information and specific steps to take if you believe you are a victim of sexual harassment at the college.

The following individuals serves as the college’s Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Title IX Coordinator and are available to assist any individual who has questions or concerns regarding sexual harassment:

Training Resources: The Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator have been recieved training from the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA).

Everyone has the right to safety. Sexual harassment effectively denies a person equal access to an education program or activity of the College, including a student’s educational experience or an employee’s work performance.

Statewide registration of sex offenders (Campus Sex Crime Prevention Act)
The federal Campus Sex Crime Prevention Act require all states implement procedures to help ensure that sex offered registration information is made available to students and the general public.
