Documentary “Grounds Operation” showing at ATC on March 27
The screening is free, and drinks and snacks will be provided as will a question-and-answer session with the producer and a participant.
“Ground Operations” is part of a national campaign to champion combat veterans transitioning to new careers in sustainable farming, ranching and artisan food production. The film follows an ensemble of combat men and women who served in Iraq and Afghanistan who talk about the daunting task of returning to civilian life after the war. The film also explores veterans seeking new careers at the same time the USDA is calling for one million new farmers in the next decade to replace American farmers at retirement age. Hence, agriculture’s problem is a solution for veterans.
“Ground Operations” won the Audience Favorite award at DocUtah International Film Festival, the Social Justice award at the Port Townsend Film Festival and the Best Solution Award at the Cinema Verde Environmental Film Festival.
