TCC phlebotomy program recognized as best in Virginia
PhlebotomyTrainingSpot.com considered program reputation and accreditation in selecting its Best Phlebotomy Education Award winners. Nearly 1,000 programs across the nation participated in the process.
“Winners are acknowledged as the top programs with an ability to foster career and personal development in their students,” said Steve Roberts, founder of PhlebotomyTrainingSpot.com. “It’s that dedication to top-notch training and mentorship that leads to great health care workers and a better system of care for everyone.”
Phlebotomists are proficient in collecting, handling and processing blood specimens for analysis. TCC’s 12-credit program, which includes hands-on clinical instruction, can be completed in one semester. Students who complete the Phlebotomy Technician Career Studies Certificate are prepared for the national certification examination.
“Our students gain a valuable skill set during a 16-week semester that allows them to be employed immediately in area hospitals, public health settings and medical office laboratories, or they can use those skills to springboard into other programs in the medical field, including nursing, respiratory therapy and physician assistant training,” said Angela Bell, director of the Phlebotomy and Medical Laboratory Technician programs at TCC.
Prospective students can attend an open house on the third Thursday of each month except December at the Regional Health Professions Center, Room MW310 on the Virginia Beach Campus. The one-hour sessions begin at 4 p.m.
