Anne Pinkerton: Professor of Biology and Health
As a professor of biology and health and head of biology and geology at TCC’s Norfolk Campus, Pinkerton is steeped in real-life medical research and training. She began her career as a member of an open-heart and transplant surgery team at Medical College of Virginia. Pinkerton also served as a medical researcher focusing on the cellular and molecular changes associated with cancer, genetics, cardiovascular transplantation and cellular differentiation. Her extensive clinical, research and teaching experience includes time in the cardiac catheterization lab at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Pinkerton has presented her research at numerous state, national and international science meetings and has co-authored several peer review journal articles and a chapter in a book about molecular determinants of recurrence and survival in head and neck cancer. She holds a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences from EVMS.
