TCC’s Regional Automotive Center open house Oct. 27

Tidewater Community College’s Regional Automotive Center will hold an open house on Thursday, Oct. 27, welcoming high school students, parents, teachers and community members.

The hours are 9 a.m. to noon at the center, which is located at 600 Innovation Drive, off Clearfield Avenue in Chesapeake’s Oakbrooke Business & Technology Center.

The RAC is Hampton Roads’ only high-tech training facility for today’s automotive technician. The center offers classes in:

automotive maintenance and repair
collision repair
marine technology and
diesel technology.

During the open house, guests can visit with instructors and check out classrooms, equipment and vehicles. The facility features nine classrooms and 15 instructional laboratory bays, including one that accommodates a tractor-trailer.

Prospective students can also speak with training representatives from national manufacturers including Toyota, Ford, Honda, Volvo Penta, Chrysler and Cummins.

Local industry representatives will be on hand to speak about career opportunities for TCC graduates.
