Due to a critical shortage of workers in Hampton Roads’ maritime and shipbuilding industries, high-paying careers are available across the region. Whether you’re interested in welding or occupational safety, a specialized, high-tech maritime education from Tidewater Community College will give you the experience and expertise needed by shipping and ship repair industries across the region. The program provides students with a comprehensive set of maritime industry-related skills that employers seek when selecting technicians for their industry. Graduates who have also completed a registered apprenticeship program will be prepared to apply for supervisory positions within the maritime industry or to pursue a career pathway to a university in a related program.

Learn to fit and assemble parts to make or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines in the maritime field, applying knowledge of mechanics and machining procedures.
