Tidewater Community College and the Chesapeake Fine Arts Commission present William Shakespeare’s The Tempest. In “The Tempest” the main character Prospero uses magic to conjure a storm and torment the survivors of a shipwreck, including the King of Naples and Prospero’s treacherous brother, Antonio. Conflict ensues but the in the end, families are reunited and all conflict is resolved.
TCC’s version of the play takes on magical elements, with an untouched island setting, complete with sprites to entertain and monsters to mesmerize. The performances will take place from June 22-26 at 8 PM (weather permitting) and will be held at the Grove Stage outside of the Pass building on the Chesapeake Campus.
This is a free performance and open to the community so bring your blanket or chair, bug spray and a picnic basket and enjoy an evening of Shakespeare under the stars.
Shakespeare in the Grove is presented with the support of the Chesapeake Fine Arts Commission, Virginia Commission for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
