TCC-City of Virginia Beach celebrate upcoming Joint-Use Library
Construction is well underway on the project.
During the ceremony, held in TCC’s Regional Health Professions Center overlooking the library site, TCC President Deborah M. DiCroce and Mayor William D. Sessoms Jr. praised the partnership, describing it as functional and financial. Dr. DiCroce noted the importance of building relationships to leverage mutual strengths, saying that only one other such agreement exists in the country. The city contributed $11 million and the state provided $42 million to build the library.
The two leaders placed signed books – TCC’s photo-documentary book, Acts of Optimism, created by students, and a Dr. Seuss book symbolizing the joy of reading – in a box to be sealed within the structure, signifying the groundbreaking.
The Joint-Use Library’s anticipated opening is Spring 2013
